The Life We're Building Together

Every now and then, a message comes in that reminds me why this movement matters. Not because of money. Not because of followers. But because of the real lives being changed behind the scenes. This week, I received a message from someone in our community. I’m sharing it with because it’s a perfect example of what it means to Try Life On:

Hi Maurice,

I am doing well. I relocated back to North Carolina to be closer to my father. But I have decided to stay a while even after his passing.

The transition was difficult but I am back to self. But your posts absolutely inspire me to remember my vision of pivoting away from the rat race in my 50s.

With the death of my father, I used this as the right time to make that happen. I fondly look at the time I spent with my parents with few regrets, no love letters left unspoken. I made the time for memories, laughter, joy and new experiences that I shared with them in light of their sacrifices for me.

I've opted to take some time out of the workforce... to just be. And I'm thankful I continued to structure a life and some finances that allow me the flexibility to do just that.

So a heartfelt thank you for always being a beacon, that quietly reminded me, there is more than one way to live a life. To live the one that is true for you. And that the last phase doesn't have to look identical to the next.

If you are ever in NC or connecting through let me know, it would be great to see you.

Also stay safe in Lebanon and wherever your expansive travels take you!

Read that again.
She didn’t wait for permission.
She didn’t default to the "next logical step."
She used her earned freedom - time, financial, emotional - to be present when it mattered. She didn't focus on building more and more (our default language) when it mattered because she understand that we have just one life, one opportunity to connect with the world and those we love.

That’s what we’re building here. Lives with margin. Choices rooted in truth, not fear. Space to say what needs to be said. And to just be.

Try Life On isn’t escape.
It’s building life that feels like you
In joy, in loss, in transition, in stillness.

If you’re on the path, stay on it.

If you haven’t started yet, you can. This message is your proof: It’s possible. It’s happening. It’s worth it.
